Skateboarding Owl Wows Shopping Center

(CANVAS STAFF REPORTS) - Alby is ruffling a few feathers to the delight of people in England.

The 13-year-old barn owl rides a skateboard through a shopping center in Folkestone, Kent, the Telegraph reported.

His unusual talent took off by accident, said Alby's owner, Brian Maxted. Maxted runs a local owl sanctuary and often carries owls when he solicits donations. One day a boy at a local shopping center put down his skateboard to look at Alby – and the owl jumped on.

"Someone pulled it along the ground and he loved it so much, we had to get him one of his own," Maxted told the Telegraph.

The owl swoops onto the board, using momentum from his flight. After the board stops, Alby takes flight, lands on the board and the fun starts again.

Alby isn't the only member of the animal kingdom with a penchant for skateboards. The Internet is filled with videos and photos of birds, cats and more dogs on the move .

In the United States, Tyson the bulldog has become an international sensation with his board moves. Tyson, according to his Web site , has appeared in movies, performed on many TV shows and starred in a Japanese commercial for Nikon.

However, another bulldog could give Tyson "paws for thought."

Tillman is an online legend, thanks to YouTube.com videos of him skating along Venice Beach, Calif. The bulldog, and his owner, parlayed that fame into TV, movies, and an iPhone commercial. Tillman has even tried his hand, er, paw, at video games, kicking and slobbering his way through Tony Hawk's "Ride."

Then there's Gordo . The 30-year-old Malaysian parrot rode a custom miniature board around Baldwin Park, Calif. Last year, the Pasadena Star-News reported that Gordon was birdnapped. An initial search of area skate parks came up empty. Unfortunately, there's no word on whether Gordo ever found.
