(MYFOX NATIONAL) – How does 87,000 available jobs sound? CNN Money highlights nearly two dozen top-tier companies that are currently hiring, and hiring in a big way.
The article highlights each company – what they do, what makes them outstanding, what they’re looking for in a new hire, and how to impress them at an interview – and provides you with valuable information before you update your resume.
Among the "best" companies is Wegmans Food Markets , which is on Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work for” list. The supermarket company has over 1,500 open positions in 75 stores throughout Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Wegmans also has plans to add at least a dozen more stores in the future, including a move into Massachusetts.
Internet giant Google is currently looking for 1,000 new employees all over the world. According to Google people programs specialist Ann Pellegrini, the most important attribute you can bring to the interview table is a strong sense of self.
“There really is no secret sauce. What we want most is for a candidate to be himself or herself,” Pellegrini told CNN Money . “Candidates should bring their whole selves to the interview and not try to fit some mold that they think Google wants.”
The Boston Globe agrees things were getting better. Mark Goodstein, president of Techpros of Newton, Mass., a recruiting firm specializing in the software industry, said hiring among his clients began to pick up in August, and his job placements have increased more than 50 percent since then.
“There’s been a shift in focus to hiring and expanding teams,’’ said Goodstein in the Globe article. “It’s not an explosion, but definitely a pickup.’’
