Hasan's Killeen Apartment Raided, Searched

(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Local police barricaded and evacuated an apartment complex in downtown Killeen, Texas, where Fort Hood shooting suspect Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan lived. According to The Killeen Daily Herald the raid happened Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., hours after the rampage on the army post where 13 were killed and 28 were wounded.

The Killeen Daily Herald reported police SWAT teams converged on the apartment and surrounding streets, and blocked the apartment with an armored vehicle. The SWAT team secured the area for Fort Hood investigators to arrive and process the scene.

KXXV-TV reported that the Fort Hood Bomb Squad arrived just after 10 p.m. Thursday and examined the apartment using a bomb-defusing robot. No bombs were present and detectives swarmed the apartment. FBI agents also searched the apartment, according to CNN .

Officials have not said what was found during the search. Officials said earlier that federal search warrants were being drawn up to authorize the seizure of his computer.

The Killeen Daily Herald reported that neighbors said Hasan handed Qurans and donated his furniture to anyone who would take it Thursday morning. Neighbors also said that Hasan began wearing "Arabic clothing" in recent weeks.

The Austin American-Statesman reported that the investigation of the shooting will be led by military personnel with help from FBI agents and Texas Rangers, who will investigate the shooting and dig into Hasan's background.

At Fort Hood, the shooting rampage began at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, when the Army said Hasan entered the Soldiers Readiness Processing Center and Howze Theater and opened fire using two handguns.
