Sanity Saver Tip: Ease "Before School" Morning Rush

Updated: Tuesday, 09 Mar 2010, 2:42 PM EST

Check out this fun idea to ease the morning rush before school. Thanks to Springfield Moms reader Barbara Gold for submitting this Sanity Saver tip. Barbara is entered into our prize drawing. If you have a Sanity Saver, email us , and be entered to win.

"Here is a tip I put into place to help with getting my kids fed and out the door each morning. My son would always spend several valuable minutes trying to decide what he wanted for breakfast every morning. We would end up rushing to get done and out the door.
I typed up a list of breakfast items, fruit options, and lunch options with a check box to the left of each. I then laminated the checklist and put it on the bulletin board in the kitchen.

Each night he picks his breakfast item, fruit and looks at the school lunch menu to decide if he wants it. He marks the items he wants with a dry erase marker, so in the morning, I don’t have to ask him and wait until he decides. It is all picked out and ready for him. I wipe off each day and he chooses new items that night for the next morning. It has been a life saver. Hope you enjoy the tip."
